After posting the last stories on the blog on Tuesday afternoon, I went for a drink to wait for my Belgian friends at some bar in Sanlitun. I met two French guys and invited them to come to Bar Blu to meet the Belgians. Our delegation had a drink there and moved on to Kai Bar, where all drinks are 10 Kuai. (1$) For a while, we reminisced about the good old computer days, with 2/86s, BBS, Compuserve, and 1200 baud modems…
When we got kicked out around 2am, we jumped into a cab to Worker’s Stadium and entered Mix Club, a high-revving, obnoxiously loud club filled mostly with locals. I actually danced all night and thoroughly enjoyed myself, which is probably a first! I met a nice Chinese girl and we chatted in the back of the bar until 6am, at which point I collapsed into a cab back to the hotel. I don’t think I’ve stayed up all night since France 2002.
